Lightroom Classic – Beginner Fundamentals Course

Beginner fundamentals is for anyone just getting started with Lightroom Classic or Lightroom 6.

One-on-one Course Training

This course is taught in four one-on-one personalized sessions. You will receive hands on help to establish an organized file management system for your image files. From there you will build a Lightroom catalog from the ground floor, assuring a solid foundation for future growth. This fundamentals course finishes with editing lessons working on your own images.

Complete 4 Session Course: $600.00 (6 hours total)
Individual Session rate: $187.50 per session (1.5 hours each)

  4. Watch your email for a booking confirmation and a link to the online conference room.
  5. Click on the email link at the time of your scheduled session. You will need speakers and a microphone.

Prerequisite: You should have Lightroom Classic CC or Lightroom 6 installed on your computer. You need an active Adobe Creative Cloud subscription for Lightroom Classic CC. You should have a collection of unedited, preferably raw format images ready to work with.

Every session is customized to your specific needs. Outlines are based on the average time required to cover the material. You may progress at a faster or slower rate. The complete course includes 6 total hours of one-on-one coaching. If needed, additional sessions can be purchased separately. If you learn at a faster rate, intermediate content will be added in the last session.

File Management & Catalog Setup

  • Best practices for good file management. How to move images from camera to computer. Where to put your image files.
  • Understand what a Lightroom catalog is, and how the catalog manages your image files.
  • Create a copyright metadata template, and why it is important.
  • Import photos the correct way. How not to lose track of images.
  • Introduction to the Lightroom User Interface: modules, panels, panes.

Lr Fundamentals Session 2

Lightroom UI & Collections

1.5 hours
  • Lightroom User Interface and important keyboard shortcuts.
  • Review Lightroom preferences and optimize for performance.
  • Create a custom Identity Plate.
  • Apply keywords. Best practices for keywording.
  • Evaluate and rate images.
  • How to create Collection Sets, Collections and Smart Collections, and best practice workflows for using them.

Lr Fundamentals Session 3

Develop Module - Basic Editing

1.5 hours
  • Navigating the Develop Module and Develop Module View Options.
  • How to work with Lightroom Virtual Copies.
  • Basic Panel image editing. Detailed explanation of every slider.
  • How to read the Histogram for editing.
  • How and why to choose a Camera Profile.
  • How and why set the Lens Profile.
  • Understanding White Balance.

Lr Fundamentals Session 4

Develop Module - Beyond Basic

1.5 hours

  • Create a Develop preset for image imports.
  • Working with the Transform Panel to correct skewed images
  • Make selective Color edits with the HSL panel.
  • Perform basic retouch cloning.
  • Correct Red Eye
  • How to work with the History Panel and Snapshots
